SET IT IN CARADON STONE — Quality Natural Materials from a Specialist Supplier

Caradon Stone is the only supplier of Caradon Cornish granite, a premier construction material prized for its durability and sustainable properties.

Cornish granite has been used all over the world and for many important landmarks. We want our stone to be part of your story, as you create the landmark buildings of the future.

In addition to our own Granite, we offer a range of alternative natural materials to help you build with quality, for both classic and modern designs. We’ll work with you to achieve your design goals, including to find the stone for your requirements.

Caradon Stone aims to become an industry leader in sustainable action to reduce the impact of our operations; we’re committed to becoming a Carbon Neutral business by 2030 and look forward to sharing this challenge with you. We’ll achieve through innovation and continuing to develop our stone expertise.

We’re comfortable working with quality builders, stone masons, self builders, architects and designers. We want to work with you to help inspire others through the beauty of building sustainably with natural materials. Trust us with your project and create something remarkable.

OUR SERVICES

Bodmin Moor : Granite formations + ancient sites

  • Your project is important to us. We are committed to giving you quality, value and outstanding customer service. If you need assistance with finding the right stone for your project please do reach out to our expert members of staff. You can contact us here.

We’re just as comfortable working with self-build clients directly, as with large commercial entities. We understand the importance of keeping your project on schedule and on budget. We make every effort to work with you to ensure your stone is on time and of the right quality.

  • Looking to specify a stone, or do you just require inspiration? Contact our expert team and let’s have a conversation.

We’re comfortable working directly with designers at an early stage of any build; in fact we’d be delighted to assist in producing a stone specification, or assisting in ironing out any technical requirements.

Our quarried stone is CE marked and laboratory tested to comply with British and European standards for Factory Production Control. We’re happy to supply data including compressive strength, water porosity and petrography.

We can also provide assistance in making recommendations for sand and mortar, which are both vital to the success of any wall system.

Please read more about how we might assist via our latest case study.

  • Our stone may be quarried on the rugged moorland of Cornwall, but we can deliver all across the UK. We’ll make every effort to take care of the logistics for you. We’ve supplied stone to the Highlands of Scotland, the Channel Islands, and even as far as Germany for one customer who simply had to have our stone.

Stock products can usually be delivered within 72 hours, although certain products may only be available for more local delivery.

  • Unsure which stone would suit your project? Need to match something existing? Concerned your chosen stone may not meet the technical requirements of your design?

Caradon Stone has decades of combined experience assisting clients. We employ a qualified geologist in house, and can often identify and help match stones, even where the original quarry source is historic and has long since closed. We also provide technical guidance and best practice advice for how to choose, store and utilise various stones.

While our advice cannot extend to specific professional construction advice, we’ll explain our limitations and provide the contact details for an appropriate expert.

Oftentimes the best choice may not be Cornish or even UK stone. You can trust us to use our worldwide contacts to find an appropriate substitute, and you can rely on our logistical experience to deliver to you across land and sea.

  • We aim to match your aspirations and imagination - Our team includes trained stonemasons who can fashion beautiful pieces from stone. Let’s make something amazing together.

If your requirements are unique or unusual we would be delighted to discuss how we can help. Please do get in touch with us here with a description of what you are trying to achieve.

If you would like to see an example of our craftsmanship, please view one of our case studies featuring the full process from design to the finished product.

OUR STONE

PRODUCTS

  • We are the only supplier of Caradon Cornish Granite. This stone, known for high durability and beautiful colour hues, has been quarried on Bodmin Moor since at least the mid-1800s.

We aim to produce this product as sustainably as possible. We use only the previous quarry workings so very little energy is required to win the material from the ground; the stone is cut using 100% renewable energy, and our water system recycles quarry water throughout the cutting process.

For more information on this stone and to learn more about its history, please visit our page detailing our quarries geology and history.

  • In addition to our own premium granite material, we offer a wide range of alternative products, from those quarried elsewhere in Cornwall to specially chosen exotic alternatives that provide for contrast.

As well as stocking a range of Slates, Granites, Limestones and Sandstones, we are also about to source bespoke solutions where other stone types may be required. In the past we’ve sourced porphyry, basalt, gneiss where something different or unique was needed. As well as larger European factories, we also work with quarries and stonemasons with as few as a single employee, or family businesses that have been operating for decades.

    Contact us directly to enquire about our range of natural stone, which includes;

Slates - sourced from Cornwall, Wales, Brazil and
    elsewhere in the UK

Granites - sourced from Cornwall, Dartmoor, China and Portugal

Rustic Heritage Stone - sourced from Cornwall

    Porphyrys - sourced from Italy

    Basalts - sourced from Spain

Limestones - sourced from Britain, India and Greece

Sandstones - sourced from Britain and India

  • A wall is more than just stone placed in isolation, and so we recognise we need to do more than simply supply stone in order to fulfil our company mission.

Starting soon, We aim to assist you with the supply of mortar and other complementary sustainable products for use alongside our natural stone.

Caradon Stone’s mission is to become a premier sustainable materials supplier, which takes a leadership role within the industry by demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and quality.

At the largest scale we recognise our role in a global struggle to reverse the effects of climate change. Natural stone is an exceptionally durable building material, which can last for hundreds, if not thousands of years in some cases. Natural stone production requires low energy inputs compared to artificially made alternatives.

Carefully managed stone extraction and production is sustainable and part of a low carbon future.

On the smallest scale, the places where people live, work and play influence the quality of their individual lives. Natural stone is a signature of a high quality built environment.

Our mission is to supply natural stone and associated materials to meet the objectives of sustainable development and to become a successful business by doing so.

He was friendly without being familiar, and very obliging in showing me samples of the items I was interested in seeing, and subsequently buying… I am so excited to have found this quarry, and look forward to buying many more items from here, including some substantial pieces of Granite, in order to indulge my passion for sculpture and stone carving.”

“Excellent customer service, we love our granite slabs, which were delivered quickly as arranged by the helpful Caradon staff, and in perfect condition. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again, and would highly recommend them.”

“Absolutely delighted with the new entrance sign to Maker Heights which was commissioned by Rame Conservation Trust and Evolving Places. The service couldn't have been more efficient and helpful. Many thanks to the Caradon team, specifically Scott Bourne, the excellent stone mason for working to our design request, and Emma Devey who delivered the boulder and expertly ensured that it was located safely in the right place.”
